The detective "Harry Hole" is the main character in a series of crime novels written by Norwegian author Jo Nesbø. The first book about Harry Hole was The Bat from 1997. Since then, ten more novels have been published about the popular detective. Follow in Jo Nesbø's character Harry Hole's footsteps through the streets of Oslo, to the places that Hole frequents: the courthouse, the watering holes Underwater Pub and Schrøder, the Royal Palace Park, Egertorget Square and Sofies gate, where Harry lives.

City Sightseeing Bus Tour

Hop off at the Ibsen Museum, which is dedicated to the 19th-century Norwegian playwright, theatre director, and poet Henrik Ibsen. The museum is partly Ibsen's refurbished apartment where he lived in his later life until his death in 1906, and partly exhibition space showcasing displays relating to his work. The Royal Palace was built in the first half of the 19th century as the Norwegian residence of Norwegian and Swedish king Charles III and is the official residence of the present Norwegian Monarch. Harry Hole Tour

Harry Hole lives and works in Oslo, and places and neighbourhoods in the city play an important role in may of the stories. In walking distance from Harry Hole's apartment in Sofies gate, you can visit his regular hangout Restaurant Schrøder and the Underwater Pub. Through the eleven books he visits a number of other restaurants and pubs in Oslo, like when Rakel flirts with him at Dinner Restaurant in The Redbreast or he has a beer at Teddy's in The Snowman. 

His office is at the police station in Grønland, but the investigations takes him all over the city, often to well-known places. In The Redeemer a Salvation Army officer is shot at Egertorget square in Karl Johans gate, Oslo's main street, and the final scenes of The Snowman take place in Holmenkollen.

This autumn sees the release of the first movie about Harry Hole, The Snowman, starring Michael Fassbender as the poular detective. The film is based on Jo Nesbø's novel The Snowman, the seventh entry in the series about Harry Hole.
