The Shard is an iconic, landmark building on the London skyline, designed by Master Architect Renzo Piano. At a height of 1,016ft (310m), the tallest building in Western Europe, the Shard redefines London's skyline and will be a dynamic symbol of London, recognisable throughout the world.

The View is situated at the top of The Shard, on floors 68, 69 and 72, and almost twice the height of any other viewing platform in London. Prepare to embark on a multi-sensory journey to 244m (800ft) above of one of the greatest cities on earth. On arrival at Level 00, you will be drawn into the tapestry of London with glimpses of the city laid out before you. Travelling skyward in two high-speed ‘kaleidoscopic' lifts, you'll swiftly reach Level 68 - a cloudscape above the world.

Then journey to Level 69 where the view is revealed and London opens out before you. Here, in the sky above London, you'll experience an astonishing 360 degree, 64km (40mile) view over the city and beyond where the past, present and future of London will be unfurled beneath you, brought to life in multimedia displays.

For the best view in town, ascend to Level 72, at 244m, the highest public level of The Shard. You'll be exposed to the elements with sounds of the city around you. Looking up, you'll see the shards of glass that form the top of this skyscraper as they disappear upwards into the sky.

Easily accessible from the London Bridge tube or train stations, or buses stop on the nearby road. Signage for entry -we didn't see any, just found the building- can't miss it, then wandered to find the door. Entry on the lowest floor- the very nice porter directed us down the escalator as he guarded the door to the offices. Once inside, up a flight of stairs to the reception. We'd gone early & it wasn't too busy so we were allowed, with our tickets, to go straight in. Using this site gave us a reduction compared to that paid on the door. Clean toilets in the reception area along with an extensive souvenir shop. Directed to a queue which turned out to be a standard security check before photo's. We never noticed where the photo's were displayed so missed them. Onward to to the lifts. Plenty of helpful staff to direct you along the way. Out of the second lift- very quick ascensions, onto the viewing platform. Fantastic panoramic views. 360 degree's as you walk around- wide platform and glad not crowded. Champagne, tea, coffee, hot choc (£2.50 large cup) & small snacks on a small stand. No seats which would have been nice, however if seats they may never get vacated as you take it all in. Fun looking for the landmarks. At a distance we saw Wembley with its arc, Battersea power station columns, Thames barrier to name a few. It was cloudy but we still had a great view. Some planes looked on a similar level! Upwards using the stairs to a second viewing platform, again 360 degrees as you walk around, however this one is open to the elements from above. Still full size glass windows. The air makes you feel more open, even when you where fully enclosed. Solid/paneled floors, none glass which was good for me. The glass was all the outer edges to the floor. There was a rail on some of the edges and small corners where you could just stand and watch out of the way. To come down you go back down the stairs to the lower deck & then are directed back to the lifts. It wasn't my idea, but we promised our son we would visit. We all had a good time, spending about 1.5 hours in the building overall. Seemed expensive (£70 for the three of us), but probably no different to the London Eye. Still glad we went. Exited seeing the window cleaners abseiling down the outside- frightening.

Great experience, especially on a sunny day as we had. Highly recommended.

The Shard is quite expensive for what took us an hour to see what we needed to see. It was raining when we went so the Views were less clear. Well organised event. They giVe you information handsets which are helpful. It is cheaper to buy tickets beforehand, as you save £5 per person. Printing tickets before we went via 365 was easy and I would book for other attractions again

Simple to exchange for a ticket with a specific time slot at The Shard. I was actually able to go up as soon as I arrived (a Thursday afternoon. Probably busier at the weekend). Loved the shard - spent four hours up there! Watched day become night :)

Ticket worked and saved us money. I was booking in the morning for the afternoon that day and it was significantly cheaper than purchasing tickets at the Shard. The view was incredible, made all the better because the weather was changing and we could watch the sun and clouds move around us.
