Poble Espanyol is an architectural museum placed in one of the most emblematic areas of Barcelona, just a few metres away from the Fountains of Montjuïc. It is one of the biggest attractions of the city because of a single set featuring about contemporary art ,crafts and gastronomy in a quiet, safe and peaceful environment. The museum consists of 117 full-scale buildings, which make a real Iberian village with streets, houses, parks, theater, school, restaurants and artisan workshops.
During your time in Poble Espanyol you will have time to gently stroll through narrow winding streets in typical Spanish villages and see different artisans actually working in their workshops. You can view artwork by famous artists like Dali, Picasso,Miro, Tapies & Barcelo. This village allows you an insight of history and culture and there are additional activities for the children including pony rides and activity centre [ at an additional cost]
If you would like to visit lots of Spanish villages and regions in one day then this is the perfect opportunity to do so. El Poble Espanyol was built in 1929 for the Barcelona International Exhibition as the pavilion dedicated to art. It is one of the few monuments that belonged to an International Exhibition that can still be visited. The aim was to give an idea of what might be an "ideal model" of a Spanish village containing the main characteristics of all towns and villages in the peninsula. For this reason, 117 buildings, streets and squares were re designed as a whole unique city. You will be enchanted as you walk through the tiny passages, each one taking you to a different dimension. Tiny shops selling local produce will delight you with their wares including delicious chocolates, contemporary jewellery and handmade leather products. Or you can sit at one of the cafes or tapas bars as you just watch the world go by. It’s a wonderful experience.
Audioguide included available in Spanish, English, French, Italian, German, Russian and Hebrew.
