- Monday 21 July – Tuesday 2 September 2014 (all activities listed below will be available)
- Wednesday 3 to Tuesday 16 September 2014 (only The Crater of the Tyrant King and the Dinosaur exhibition will be open)
This summer Eden brings you a beast of a day out! We’re unleashing some of the greatest creatures to ever walk the earth, with dinosaurs right here in Cornwall. Join a journey of exploration, meet some of the world’s most famous explorers, step back in time 67 million years, and come face to face with a lost world. As well as the awesome beasts themselves, Dinosaurs Unleashed will be packed with activities for kids and grown-ups alike, including our Dig Pit, dinosaur exhibition and fascinating fossils. It's THE must-do event in Cornwall come rain or shine this summer.
The Crater of the Tyrant King - Dare you enter the Crater? You'll encounter the most feared predator of all, a Tyrannosaurus rex, as it devours its Triceratops prey!
Don't miss this incredibly detailed immersive experience - it's a sensory feast that you'll never forget! Step boldly into an ancient, exotic landscape of raw earth, rocks, roots, ferns, dripping mosses and giant redwood trees, habitat of the frog, snake and giant centipede. As you walk through atmospheric morning mist, you'll hear pterosaurs soaring overhead and smell the subtle scent of conifers on the air.
The Escaped Dinosaur - Hone your explorer skills and help to search for the lost dinosaur. If you're brave enough, you might even come within touching distance of the lost monster!
The Dig Pit - Dig deep into the past to uncover a dinosaur skeleton, and see how humans discovered and pieced together this world by finding fossils. A great activity for the whole family to get stuck into! There will also be a junior version for the under-5s.
Become an explorer - Clue up at Basecamp before striking out on your expedition. At this first base, you'll learn all you need to complete your quest around Eden.
Explorer Field Stations - Meet explorers from the past. Find out why they went down in history as some of the greatest adventurers and what we can learn from them.
Dinosaur exhibition - In our Core building, discover why people are so fascinated by dinosaurs. Find out why scientists think they were so BIG and why they think they were wiped out 65 million years ago.
The exhibition will also feature an amazing collection of dinosaur fossils that has never been publicly exhibited before, including real dinosaur eggs, a fossilised brain, a whole skeleton and a real T-rex tooth.
Only ten years ago there was nothing to see other than a worked out China Clay pit with no prospect of growing anything other than wild scrub.
Not surprisingly the most exciting new garden on the planet has attracted some of the best gardeners – a uniquely skilled team that brings together expertise from professional backgrounds ranging from botanic gardens and public landscapes to conservation and even farming.
Eden’s Gardening Team have turned this mining landscape, offering huge challenges, into a vibrant global garden that has caught the imagination of gardeners the world over. There are over 100,000 plants that have turned a desolate scar on the landscape into the dramatic, award winning and often amusing style of that sets Eden apart.
The Eden Project is an exciting attraction where you can explore your relationship with nature, learn new things and get inspiration about the world around you.
